The Magirus-Deutz 23D-13L Truck (1965) was an impressive and highly dependable heavy-duty haul truck that was part of the Magirus-Deutz range of commercial vehicles. It featured a powerful diesel engine and had a gross vehicle weight rating of 13t. The truck had an outdated, boxy profile that was characterized by its single-piece, raised bonnet that featured a prominent air intake grille and headlamps set in a single-piece housing, as well as angular lines that ran along the sides. It was painted in a drab, dark blue colour with white accents. At the rear end, the Magirus-Deutz 23D-13L was fitted with a large cargo bed with a capacity of up to 8 cubic meters. It was also fitted with heavy-duty rear-hinged loading doors to facilitate easier access for loading and unloading. The cargo bed was integrated into the frame of the truck and reinforced for extra durability when carrying heavy goods, such as building materials, farm produce, and vehicles. The interior cabin of the truck was equipped with several essential amenities, including a robust dashboard with robust knobs, switches, and an analogue clock. The leather-trimmed upholstery was comfortable and durable, while the deep bucket seats enabled the driver and passengers to travel in comfort for long-distance journeys. Under the hood, the top-of-the-range Magirus-Deutz 23D-13L was fitted with a powerful 6.2L naturally-aspirated diesel engine that could generate a maximum power of 200 hp. The engine was mated to a 5-speed manual transmission, which could power the truck to a top speed of 75 mph. The Magirus-Deutz 23D-13L also sported impressive safety features, such as hydro-viscous drum brakes and a robust suspension system that enabled it to take on challenging off-road terrains. It also had a robust framework with heavy-duty steel beams for extra protection during collisions.
