The IFA W50L truck was a medium-sized workhorse produced by the East German truck maker IFA between 1965 and 1974. It had a robust construction and was designed to haul heavy loads. It was fitted with a two-stroke, 8-cylinder petrol engine and a four-speed manual gearbox. The truck had three forward and one reverse gear and a maximum speed of up to 40 mph. On the outside, the truck featured a simple, flat-faced design with an angular hood and side panels. The wide rear wheels and robust frame provided the necessary traction, with the truck being able to tow a payload of nearly four tons. Inside, there was seating for two adults and up to seven passengers, with a dashboard featuring a range of basic dials and levers. The cabin also included a heater, a radio, and round headlamps. In addition to its workhorse credentials, the IFA W50L truck was also capable of off-road exploration thanks to its high ground clearance. The trucks proven durability made it an attractive choice for farmers and tradesmen, with plenty of components and parts still available in the aftermarket.
