Specifications Fiat Uno Turbo ie Hatchback 1983 blueprint

The Fiat Uno is an automobile model of the Italian manufacturer Fiat, manufactured in Italy between 1983 and 1993, but also in many other foreign countries, such as Brazil where it was produced until the end of 2013, under the Fiat Mille name. Revolutionary car in many respects, it used optical fiber for the lighting of the satellites of its dashboard, it marked its time. It won the European Car of the Year Trophy in 1984, twelve years after the Fiat 127 it replaces. After an investment of over 700 million and millions of miles of testing and testing with the first prototypes in all latitudes, Fiat Autos new 146 project was all set. Its manufacture was ensured by the giant factory of Mirafiori near Turin. 1983: at the beginning of January at Cape Canaveral, Fiat presents its new car: the Fiat Uno which replaces the Fiat 127. Available immediately in two body versions, 3 and 5 doors, it was equipped with three petrol engines of 903 cm3 of 45 hp ( the only side camshaft), 1,116 cm3 of 55 hp and a 1,301 cm3 developing 70 hp, initially. Shortly after, a 1,301 cc diesel engine producing 45 hp at 5,000 rpm was added. If the gearboxes are manual, 4- or 5-speed, a continuously variable automatic unit appears quickly. However, it is only sold on an experimental basis to a hand-picked clientele. Thus rigged, the Uno was called Uno-Matic, and could receive either the 1116 engine or the 1301. The final version, the Selecta, will not be revealed until 1987 with the 1116. On the chassis side, the Uno is equipped with the front of McPherson legs associated with L-arms and the rear of a torsion axle. Conventionally, the brakes are discs at the front and drums at the rear. Its cubic body (signed Giugiaro) is roughly the transposition on a small all-rounder of the theme of the Lancia Megagamma prototype presented by Giugiaro (or Ital Design) in 1978. It offers a good Cx (0.34, for 0.61 of Scx) , very good visibility and above all record habitability. Fiat has exploited the height, foreshadowing the era of minispaces, like Renault Modus or Ford Fusion 20 years later. The soft-shaped dashboard benefits from very advanced ergonomics, resulting in the installation of satellite controls, seats with inclined slides and a sliding ashtray, borrowed from the Panda. The press praised its remarkable roominess, its soundproofing and its good performance (except in diesel), its low consumption, its roadworthiness, its equipment as well as its measured price but deplores its firm suspension, its unpleasant gearbox, its insufficiently powerful braking. and its single branch windshield wiper.
