The Connaught Type A F1 OW 1952 is a race car that was built in the early 1950s by the British company Connaught Engineering, and was one of the first successful open wheel single seater racing cars. The Type A was powered by an advanced 8-cylinder engine, producing nearly 160 horsepower at 5500 rpm. It featured a double wishbone suspension in the front and rear, along with Girling 4-wheel drum brakes, all of which gave it outstanding handling capabilities. The car was almost completely fabricated in light alloy, including the chassis – a design that was ahead of its time. It had an impressive aerodynamic shape, with a low-slung profile, long nose, and pointed tail. The overall design was actually quite modern, with a long wheelbase and low center of gravity, which gave the driver great stability in corners. Despite its advanced design, the Type A was known for its agility and responsiveness, making it a formidable competitor on the track. The Connaught Type A F1 OW 1952 was quick, reliable, and well balanced, giving racers the competitive edge that they needed.
