The Berna C2 WWI Truck was a heavy-duty cargo hauler used by the French and British military during the First World War and into the interwar period. It featured an aerodynamic and robust steel frame that protected the driver and four passengers. The truck featured a longitudinally-mounted 3.6-liter inline four-cylinder engine that generated 40hp and when coupled with its dual-ratio transfer box, enabled the Berna C2 to reach a top speed of 35 mph. The truck rode on a rigid axel chassis, with the front wheels featuring a differential gearing to improve maneuverability. The Berna C2's cargo-carrying capacity was generous, easily allowing for loads of up to 3.5 tons (7,100 lbs) to be carried. The vehicle offered all-wheel-drive locking differentials, which coupled with the strong horsepower allowed the truck to traverse even the harshest terrains with ease. The Berna C2 also featured a fuel tank which was located underneath the floor, shielded to protect it from shrapnel. Along with discs brakes and a starter motor, the Berna C2 WWI Truck was a reliable and purpose-built machine that made a huge contributon to the Allied war effort.
