The Austin Seven Van was built in 1960, and was one of the most popularly used commercial vehicles in Britain at the time due to its small size and power. This van was equipped with a 748cc side-valve engine, an updated version of the Austin Seven first introduced in 1922. Though this model was the smallest and lightest of all commercial vehicles in 1960, it still managed to provide an incredible cargo capacity of 500kg. The Austin Seven Van had a classic British look that was both contemporary and well-known. Its design included a two-tone finish with a two-tone roof, large chrome grille, flat side walls, amongst others. It also featured a distinct split front glass and a "pininfarina designed" sloped 1.7 inch / 36cm roof line. Furthermore, it was fitted with two side doors, two rear doors, one large cargo door and two storage compartments in the dashboard. As for performance, this vehicle featured a top speed of 62mph and an effective fuel efficiency of more than 50mpg. It also provided a powerful and reliable performance, thanks to its next-generation engine that offered more power than conventional smaller vans. It was engineered to provide a smooth drive, and the interior was fitted with additional convenience features like center steering wheel, adjustable seat and reclining headrest – all of which further helped to create a pleasurable experience for drivers. The Austin Seven Van was truly ahead of its time.
