Specifications AMC M422 Mighty Mite blueprint

The AMC M422 Mighty Mite is a small, lightweight, four-wheel-drive utility vehicle originally developed by the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War, and currently produced by Automotive Manufacturers Corporation. Its diminutive size and impressive off-road capabilities made it an ideal vehicle for many of the terrains encountered during the war, while its flexibility and low cost made it an economical option for multiple applications, which is why it still remains popular today. The Mighty Mite was the first of its kind to feature a frame of lightweight aluminium alloy and was powered by a 1.25-litre, four cylinder, horizontally-opposed engine, capable of 65hp and 60lb ft of torque. A three-speed manual transmission provided ample power delivery, while two transmission lockout hubs ensured 4x4 capability. Ruggedness, agility, and stability were ensured by its 150mm ground clearance, 25-degree approach angle, and its particularly tight 8.5ft turning circle. A remarkably capable vehicle in every sense, the Mighty Mite not only featured a generously-sized cargo bed of 16 cubic feet, but also had the capacity to tow up to 1500lbs and a maximum speed of up to 75mph. Its robust yet lightweight build and reliable performance made it an ideal choice for military operations, as well as for civilian uses such as farm, ranch, and recreational applications. The AMC M422 Mighty Mite is a truly versatile and capable vehicle in its own right; its blend of form, function and affordability have kept its popularity alive to this day.
